Short answer: An SEO consultant is the person who diagnoses why your website is not getting search traffic or enquiries, decides what to fix first, and either does that work or directs it. I am Yatin Chaudhary, founder of Digital Marketing By OG, and I work as a hands-on SEO consultant for businesses in India and abroad. This page explains exactly how I work, what it costs and how to check whether I am the right fit before you spend anything.
I started in digital marketing in 2022. Since then I have run SEO and paid media in-house for a D2C nutrition brand, managed lead-generation campaigns for real estate, education and healthcare clients, and now oversee search and paid media for a portfolio of client websites. The work that taught me most was the in-house role, where rankings had to turn into orders, not reports. Over twelve months there, technical fixes, content optimisation and targeted link acquisition took the store to between 4,000 and 5,000 keywords on Google’s first page. The details are in the case study.
What an SEO consultant actually does
An SEO consultant is different from an agency account manager or a freelancer who only builds links. The job has four parts:
- Diagnosis. Finding what is actually holding the site back: crawl and indexing problems, weak pages, the wrong keywords, missing trust signals or a slow site.
- Prioritisation. Deciding what to fix first based on likely impact on enquiries or sales, not on how long the audit list is.
- Execution or direction. Doing the work, or briefing your developer and writers precisely enough that they can.
- Measurement. Reporting on the things that matter: visibility for money keywords, organic enquiries and revenue.
How I work with a new client
- A 30-minute call. I ask what you sell, who buys it, which searches you want to be found for and how enquiries currently reach you.
- Access, not passwords. You add me to Google Search Console and Google Analytics 4 as a user. Your accounts stay in your name.
- Technical audit. I run the same nine-layer process published in our technical SEO audit checklist, from robots.txt and indexation through redirects, internal links, schema and Core Web Vitals.
- Keyword-to-page map. Every important search gets one page responsible for it. This single step fixes a surprising number of sites where three pages compete for the same keyword.
- A 90-day plan. A short, ordered list: what gets fixed this month, what gets written next, and what we measure.
- Monthly reporting. What was done, what moved and what is next, in plain language.
What makes my approach different
SEO, ads and development in one pair of hands
A ranking problem is often a page-speed problem, and a weak ad account is often a landing-page problem. Because I also run Google Ads and Meta Ads and build WordPress sites, I can fix the whole path from search result to enquiry instead of handing you a list of recommendations for someone else.
Search data before opinions
Decisions start from your own Google Search Console data: which queries already bring impressions, which pages sit on page two, and where clicks are being lost. On this site, for example, Search Console showed that our technical SEO checklist was getting impressions for “technical SEO audit template”, so we added a template section to that page rather than writing a new one.
Honest about timelines
Technical fixes can show results in weeks. Competitive rankings usually take months. Anyone promising page one for a competitive term in thirty days is guessing.
Built for answer engines as well as Google
Buyers increasingly ask ChatGPT, Gemini and Google’s AI Overviews for recommendations. I structure pages so they are easy to understand and cite, as explained in our GEO guide.
What it costs
SEO at Digital Marketing By OG starts from ₹8,000 a month for one website, as published on our SEO services page. The exact scope depends on the size of the site and how competitive your market is. For a broader view of the market, including why quotes vary so much, see SEO expert cost in India.
Who I am a good fit for, and who I am not
| Good fit | Probably not a fit |
|---|---|
| Service businesses that want enquiries from Google and Maps | Businesses looking for guaranteed rankings by a fixed date |
| D2C and e-commerce brands that want organic revenue alongside ads | Anyone who wants bulk backlinks or fake reviews |
| B2B companies that need to rank for problem-led searches | Sites that cannot give access to Search Console or Analytics |
| Founders who want to understand what is being done and why | Projects where no one can approve changes to the website |
How to check any SEO consultant, including me
- Ask to see live work you can verify, not blurred screenshots.
- Ask who will actually do the work.
- Ask what they will do in the first 30 days and what you should see by day 90.
- Check that your accounts will remain in your name.

Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between an SEO consultant and an SEO agency?
A consultant is usually one experienced person who diagnoses, prioritises and often does the work. An agency has more people and capacity but you may deal with an account manager rather than the specialist.
How much does an SEO consultant cost in India?
It varies widely with scope and experience. At Digital Marketing By OG, SEO starts from ₹8,000 a month for one website.
How long before I see results?
Technical fixes can show within weeks once Google recrawls the site. Competitive rankings usually take several months of consistent work.
Do you work with businesses outside Delhi NCR?
Yes. I am based in Delhi NCR and work with businesses across India, and manage campaigns targeting the US and UK.
Do you guarantee first-page rankings?
No. No one controls Google’s rankings. I commit to a clear plan, transparent reporting and work you can verify.
