From search to a tracked lead

How a Google Ads click turns into an enquiry you can measure. Our management fee is separate from your ad spend, which you pay Google directly.

  1. SearchA customer searches for what you sell, in your area.
  2. AdA relevant ad matched to that keyword and intent appears.
  3. Landing pageA focused page answers the query and asks for one action.
  4. Tracked leadCalls, forms and WhatsApp clicks are recorded as conversions.

Where Google Ads budgets actually go

Two businesses spend ₹50,000 a month on Google Ads. One gets forty enquiries, the other gets four. The difference is almost never the bidding. It is everything around it.

The three places money leaks

Broad match without negatives. Google will happily spend your budget on searches that merely resemble your keywords. A plumber bidding broadly on "pipe" ends up paying for tobacco pipe searches. A disciplined negative keyword list, reviewed weekly in the first month, is the single highest-return task in any new account.

Sending clicks to the homepage. If the ad promises emergency AC repair and the click lands on a homepage listing nine services, most of that traffic leaves. Each campaign needs a page that continues the specific sentence the ad started.

No conversion tracking. Without it you are optimising for clicks, and Google is extremely good at getting you clicks. Tracking has to be working before spend starts, not bolted on in month three when the reports stop making sense.

How to think about budget

Work backwards from what a customer is worth rather than forwards from what you feel like spending.

QuestionExample
What is one customer worth to you?₹20,000 average job value
How many enquiries become customers?1 in 4
So what can you pay per enquiry?Up to ₹5,000 and still break even
What does a click cost in your category?₹30
How many clicks per enquiry?Around 20 on a decent landing page
So your cost per enquiry is roughly₹600, comfortably profitable

Run that arithmetic before you spend anything. If it does not work at realistic click costs, Google Ads is the wrong channel for you and no amount of optimisation will fix it. We would rather tell you that in the first call than six months in.

Which campaign type

  • Search catches people who are already looking. Highest intent, highest cost per click, best starting point for almost every business.
  • Performance Max spreads spend across Google's whole inventory. It can work well once you have conversion data, and it burns money when you have none. It is not a good first campaign.
  • Display is cheap traffic and low intent. Useful for retargeting, poor for cold acquisition.
  • YouTube builds demand rather than capturing it. Worth it when you have something to demonstrate and a budget that can absorb a slower payback.
  • Retargeting is usually the cheapest conversions in the account, because you are talking to people who already visited.

What the first ninety days look like

Weeks one and two are setup: tracking, account structure, keyword research, ad copy and landing pages. Weeks three and four are the expensive learning period, where the account gathers data and the negative keyword list gets built aggressively. Month two is where cost per enquiry starts dropping as the waste comes out. Month three is optimisation on what is already working: bid adjustments, ad copy testing, expanding the terms that convert. Anyone who shows you a flattering report in week two is measuring the wrong thing.

Your account stays yours

We run campaigns inside your own Google Ads account, under your billing, with you as owner. You keep the history and the data if you ever leave. Agencies that run clients inside their own manager account and refuse to hand it over are protecting themselves, not you.

More questions

What is a realistic cost per lead in India?

It varies enormously by category. Local trades and services often sit between ₹200 and ₹800 per enquiry. Competitive B2B, legal, insurance and education can run into several thousand. The useful number is not the benchmark, it is whether your cost per enquiry is below what a customer is worth to you. A ₹3,000 lead is cheap if the customer is worth ₹2 lakh.

Do I pay Google separately from your fee?

Yes. Your ad spend goes directly to Google on your own card, and our management fee is separate. This keeps things transparent: you can see exactly what Google charged and exactly what we charged, and you are never in a position where you cannot tell how much of your money became advertising.
